For U=sz, N>0, k>0 and the rising branch m0<0, the Hamiltonian is ω=ksz+Nk/k2+m2. It gives constant ω,k and m=m0−kst. The height approaches zc=ω/(ks) as time tends to infinity. With θ=arctan(∣m∣/k), the ray slope is dx/dz=tanθ+ksz/(Nsinθcos2θ). The intrinsic and absolute frequencies must not be confused.
