For fixed real ν as z→+∞, the Modified Bessel function of the first kind and Modified Bessel function of the second kind have asymptotic expansions
Iν(z)∼2πzez∑j=0∞zj(−1)jaj(ν),Kν(z)∼2zπe−z∑j=0∞zjaj(ν),a0=1,aj+1=8(j+1)4ν2−(2j+1)2aj.

The expansion and its error bounds establish actual growing and decaying solutions, beyond formal matching of a differential equation. These formulas are documented in NIST DLMF, equations 10.40.1–2.
