For qZ−qqθ=δqθθ and initial data q=sinθ, the Cole-Hopf transformation q=2δψθ/ψ gives ψ(θ,0)=exp[−cosθ/(2δ)]. The Fourier series of this exponential and the heat equation give the displayed exact positive diffusion solution. Its first harmonic gives q∼4δ[I1(a)/I0(a)]e−δZsinθ. The large-argument asymptotic expansion of a modified Bessel function makes the ratio tend to one as δ→0.
