For a one-sided normal-mean test of size α with known standard deviation σ, a positive alternative δ∗ and target statistical power 1−β>α, the required sample size is the ceiling of σ2(z1−α​+z1−β​)2/(δ∗)2. This follows by shifting the standard normal quantile in the alternative rejection probability.
