In the leading massless collinear parton approximation, P2=0 and q2=−Q2 imply (ξP+q)2=2ξP⋅q−Q2. With Bjorken x x=Q2/(2P⋅q) and P⋅q>0, the Dirac delta change-of-variable formula yields the displayed identity. The positive-energy branch of the final parton also gives δ(Eq+ξEP−Ek)/Ek=2δ((Eq+ξEP)2−Ek2) locally on physical support. Keeping target mass instead introduces ξ2M2 and changes the root and Jacobian.
