A Riemann surface is a connected Hausdorff second-countable topological surface equipped with coordinate charts to open subsets of whose transition maps are holomorphic. This is a complex manifold of complex dimension one. The atlas makes holomorphic functions, meromorphic functions and holomorphic differentials coordinate-independent notions.
