Each Pauli matrix has zero diagonal sum and determinant −1. Direct multiplication gives σx2=σy2=σz2=I. Thus all requested quantities, for each j=x,y,z, are
detσj=−1,trσj=0,σj2=I,σj−1=σj.
(1)
For example, σy2=diag((−i)i,i(−i))=I, checking that its imaginary entries do not introduce a minus sign in the square.
