The attractive potential has Δ>0. Its time-independent Schrödinger equation is
−2Mℏ2χ′′(x)−2MΔℏ2δ(x)χ(x)=Eχ(x).
(1)
Integrate from −ε to ε. Continuity makes the delta term equal to −ℏ2χ(0)/(2MΔ), while the integral of Eχ tends to zero as the interval shrinks. The second-derivative term integrates to the difference of first derivatives. Hence
χ′(0+)−χ′(0−)=−Δχ(0).
(2)
This expresses the point interaction through a derivative jump while the wavefunction remains continuous.
