For a bipartite density operator ρAB, the Subadditivity of Von Neumann entropy is
S(AB)≤S(A)+S(B).
(1)
Here S(A)=S(TrBρAB) and likewise for B, using the partial trace. For a tripartite density operator, the Strong subadditivity of Von Neumann entropy is
S(ABC)+S(B)≤S(AB)+S(BC).
(2)
Equivalently, quantum conditional entropy cannot increase upon adding a conditioning system: S(A∣BC)≤S(A∣B).
