For any action a, decompose the posterior expected quadratic loss around the posterior mean:
E[(a−θ)2∣X]=(a−E[θ∣X])2+Var(θ∣X).
(1)
The unique minimizer is therefore the Bayes estimator under squared error loss. Using the mean of the posterior Beta distribution gives
θ=E[θ∣X]=n+2S+1.
(2)
Under repeated sampling at parameter value θ, S has the binomial distribution with expected value nθ. Consequently
Eθ[θ]=n+2nθ+1,
(3)
so its bias of an estimator is (1−2θ)/(n+2).
