For uniform density, the centroid is the volume average of position and coincides with the centre of mass:
rG=m1∫AρrdV,m=ρVol(A).
(1)
A point fixed in the body has rOQ=∑iqiei with time-independent body coordinates qi. Since O is fixed, part (a) gives
vQ=∑iqie˙i=ω×rOQ.
(2)
The centroid is fixed relative to the body as well, so vG=ω×rOG. Using rOQ=rOG+rGQ therefore gives
vQ=ω×rOQ=vG+ω×rGQ.
