The laboratory flight time is R/vB. By time dilation, the accumulated proper time is τ=R/(γBvB). The definition of the rest-frame half-life gives at least one-half survival when τ≤T, or γBvB≥R/T. Equivalently,
1−vB2/c2vB2≥T2R2.
(1)
Solving for the minimum speed gives
vB,min=R2+c2T2cR.
(2)
Under the usual exponential decay law, the survival probability is exactly 2−R/(γBvBT). This is relativistic decay survival to a detector.
