For F∈C2(Rn) with bounded Hessian matrix, Taylor's formula along the line from zero to p gives ∣F(p)∣≤∣F(0)∣+∣DF(0)∣∣p∣+21∥D2F∥∞∣p∣2. Its gradient obeys ∣DF(p)∣≤∣DF(0)∣+∥D2F∥∞∣p∣. Consequently ∫ΩF(Du) is finite for u∈H1(Ω) when Ω has finite measure, and DF(Du)∈L2.
