Eliminating ω12 and ω22 between the conserved energy and squared angular momentum gives
ω˙32=−I1I2I32[L2−2EI2+I3(I2−I3)ω32][L2−2EI1+I3(I1−I3)ω32].

The right-hand side is a quartic polynomial in ω3; its real turning points delimit the nutation of the body-frame angular velocity.
