For a dilute saturated vapour with constant latent heat L in a dry atmosphere, set x=RA/cpA, ϵ=RA/RB and β=L/(RBTs). Its mass path is W=ϵes(Ts)eβE1(β)/(gx). Substituting y=βexζ in the log-pressure column integral proves this identity. For β≫1, W∼cpATses(Ts)/(gL) with relative correction −1/β+O(β−2).
