With polar angle θ measured from positive z and azimuth ϕ, the Cartesian formulas x=rsinθcosϕ, y=rsinθsinϕ, z=rcosθ have Jacobian determinant r2sinθ. For r≥0 and 0≤θ≤π this gives the unsigned volume element shown. The inverse determinant is 1/(r2sinθ) off the origin and polar axis.
