Let p=ϕY, r=ϕYY and w2=C1(ξ)r+C2(ξ)p2. Two applications of the chain rule give DY2w2=C1ϕYYYY+2(C1′+C2)pϕYYY+(C1′+2C2)r2+(C1′′+5C2′)p2r+C2′′p4. In a Fredholm solvability condition, the fourth term generally contributes to the coefficient of ϕY2ϕYY. It cannot be omitted merely because the fast-coordinate correction functions have been denoted by Cj(x).
