Gelfand topology

The Gelfand topology on ${\Phi }_A$ is the weak-star topology inherited from $A^{\ast }$, equivalently the coarsest topology making every map $\phi \mapsto \phi (a)$ continuous.

This is the topology on the character space used in the Gelfand representation.
