Perturb the first integral of the quadratic fold-Hopf amplitude flow by u′=−2uv+εu(λ1+v2), keeping v′=λ2+v2+u2. Then F′=−εu(λ1+v2)(λ2+u2+v2). On the interior heteroclinic orbit for λ2=−a2, u=3(a2−v2) and v′=2(a2−v2), so the first-order change is −ε3∫−aa(λ1+v2)a2−v2dv=−επ3a2(λ1+a2/4)/2. The boundary connection contributes zero. The simple zero gives the displayed leading persistence curve, rather than an exact all-orders parameter equality.
