A discrete stopping time is a random variable T:Ω→N0∪{∞} such that {T≤n}∈Fn for every n. The convention is inf∅=∞.
For the hitting time in question,
{Tk≤n}=⋃j=0n{Sj=k}.
(1)
Each event in the union is in Fj⊆Fn because Sj is adapted. This proves Tk is a stopping time for every positive integer k.
