Mean first-passage time (τ(x)=ExTA)

 0  0
First-passage time
For a diffusion with backward generator L, the mean first-passage time satisfies Lτ=−1 in the interior, with the backward forms of the process's boundary conditions.

Survival probability (Q(x,t))

 0  0
First-passage time
The survival probability is Q(x,t)=Px(TA>t). When absorption eventually occurs,
ExTA=∫0∞Q(x,t)dt.
