An integrating factor for the first-order linear differential equation is μ(x)=esinx. Multiplication gives
(yesinx)′=2sinxcosxesinx.
(1)
Substitute u=sinx in the antiderivative: ∫2ueudu=2(u−1)eu. Therefore
y(x)=2sinx−2+Ce−sinx,C∈R.
(2)
Differentiating verifies the equation everywhere on the real line; no division by cosx restricts the solution.
