On C([a,b],X), an exponentially or polynomially weighted sup norm can make a Volterra integral operator contractive even when the ordinary sup norm does not. For integration from 1 to t, the weight t−c gives contraction factor at most Mb/(c+1) for an M-Lipschitz vector field.
