When N>Nc=(μ+ν)/β, the positive equilibrium is
X∗=Nc,Y∗=μ+νμ(N−Nc),Z∗=μ+νν(N−Nc).
(1)
On the invariant plane X+Y+Z=N, the (X,Y) Jacobian at this equilibrium has negative trace −(μ+βY∗) and positive determinant βY∗(μ+ν), so both eigenvalues have negative real part and the equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable.
