For indicators Ia with means pa, let Ba contain a and suppose Ia is independent of the entire family outside Ba. Put μ=∑apa, b1=∑a∑b∈Bapapb and b2=∑a∑b∈Ba∖{a}E(IaIb). The Poisson Stein equation and its bound ∥Δf∥∞≤1 give the displayed total variation distance estimate. Stronger Stein factors can improve the bound when μ is large.
