For A⇌2B, the conserved amount is M=NA+NB/2. The total particle count NA+NB changes during reaction. Defining a dissociated fraction by α=NB/(2M) gives NA=M(1−α).

Reaction formula-unit conservation
For A⇌2B, α2/(1−α)=KN/(4M). The left side increases monotonically on 0<α<1, so increasing the conserved formula-unit density at fixed temperature reduces dissociation in the ideal model.
