K'Nex is a construction toy system that consists of plastic rods and connectors that can be assembled to create a wide variety of models and structures. The rods are usually flexible and come in various lengths, while the connectors serve as joint pieces that link the rods together. This allows for the creation of intricate designs ranging from simple geometric shapes to complex moving machines and models.
Hydrophobic sand, often referred to as "magic sand," is a type of sand that has been treated with a hydrophobic coating, typically a polymer. This coating allows the sand to repel water, causing it to behave differently from regular sand. When hydrophobic sand comes into contact with water, it does not become wet; instead, the water beads up and rolls off the surface of the sand grains.

The company focuses on creating educational toys and products specifically designed to inspire young girls to engage with engineering, construction, and other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. GoldieBlox's toys often feature female characters and narratives that encourage problem-solving, creativity, and hands-on building skills.
Girder and panel building sets are construction toy systems that allow users to create structural models, buildings, and various other designs using a combination of girders (long beams) and panels (wall or floor pieces). These sets typically consist of modular components that can be easily connected and reconfigured to form different structures. ### Components: - **Girders:** Long, usually straight beams that act as horizontal or vertical supports for structures.
Geomag is a brand of construction toys that consist of magnetic rods and metal spheres. These components can be combined in various ways to create three-dimensional structures, allowing players to explore concepts of geometry, physics, and creativity. The rods are typically made from a non-toxic plastic material and contain magnets at both ends, which connect to the metal spheres, enabling users to build shapes like towers, pyramids, and other complex designs.
Fischertechnik is a German brand specializing in educational construction toy systems. Founded in 1964 by the Fischertechnik company, its products are designed to teach children and young adults about engineering, robotics, and basic principles of mechanics and technology through hands-on building experiences. The building kits typically include a variety of plastic building blocks, gears, motors, sensors, and other components that can be assembled into various models and machines.
The term "FAC System" could refer to various contexts, depending on the industry or field. Without more specific context, it's challenging to provide a precise definition. However, here are a few possibilities: 1. **Facility Access Control (FAC)**: In security and management, a FAC system is used to control access to buildings or sensitive areas. It typically involves the use of electronic systems like keycards, biometric scanners, or RFID technology to regulate who can enter specific areas.
An Erector Set is a construction toy designed for building various structures and models using metal beams, plates, and other components. The set typically includes a selection of bolts, nuts, and various mechanical parts, allowing builders to create everything from simple shapes to complex mechanical devices. Pinned article: Introduction to the OurBigBook Project

Welcome to the OurBigBook Project! Our goal is to create the perfect publishing platform for STEM subjects, and get university-level students to write the best free STEM tutorials ever.
Everyone is welcome to create an account and play with the site: ourbigbook.com/go/register. We belive that students themselves can write amazing tutorials, but teachers are welcome too. You can write about anything you want, it doesn't have to be STEM or even educational. Silly test content is very welcome and you won't be penalized in any way. Just keep it legal!
We have two killer features:
  1. topics: topics group articles by different users with the same title, e.g. here is the topic for the "Fundamental Theorem of Calculus" ourbigbook.com/go/topic/fundamental-theorem-of-calculus
Articles of different users are sorted by upvote within each article page. This feature is a bit like:
    • a Wikipedia where each user can have their own version of each article
    • a Q&A website like Stack Overflow, where multiple people can give their views on a given topic, and the best ones are sorted by upvote. Except you don't need to wait for someone to ask first, and any topic goes, no matter how narrow or broad
This feature makes it possible for readers to find better explanations of any topic created by other writers. And it allows writers to create an explanation in a place that readers might actually find it.

  2. local editing: you can store all your personal knowledge base content locally in a plaintext markup format that can be edited locally and published either:
This way you can be sure that even if OurBigBook.com were to go down one day (which we have no plans to do as it is quite cheap to host!), your content will still be perfectly readable as a static site.
Figure 5. . You can also edit articles on the Web editor without installing anything locally.
