The signed accumulated rotation about a specified fixed axis. Unlike an angle specified only modulo 2π, angular displacement counts complete revolutions as well as the final orientation. Its derivative with respect to time is angular velocity. The displayed formula therefore follows from the fundamental theorem of calculus.
