For linearly independent unit vectors y,z with c=y⋅z, a pair
p=x⋅y,q=x⋅z
(1)
is attained by some unit vector x exactly when
1−c2p2−2cpq+q2≤1.
(2)
The left-hand side is the squared norm of the least-norm vector having those two inner products.
