A finite-amplitude ideal-MHD Alfvén wave can rotate the transverse magnetic field at constant magnitude, with constant mass density, pressure and longitudinal components. Its transverse velocity obeys and its speed is constant along the wave. The constant magnetic pressure prevents compressive acceleration.
