For μh2>0 and λ>0, the minimum has ϕ†ϕ=v2/2 with v2=μh2/λ. In unitary gauge, ϕ=(0,v+H)T/2 gives V=constant+λv2H2+λvH3+λH4/4. The canonically normalized Higgs boson therefore has mH2=2λv2. The angular modes produce the Goldstone bosons absorbed in the Higgs mechanism.
