The standard normal distribution function is the cumulative distribution function of a standard normal random variable Z:Here ϕ is the standard normal density and erf is the error function. The symmetric probability distribution gives Φ(−x)=1−Φ(x) and Φ(0)=1/2, while differentiation gives Φ′(x)=ϕ(x). For X∼N(μ,σ2) with σ>0, standardization of a normal random variable gives P(X≤x)=Φ((x−μ)/σ); subtracting two values calculates an interval probability.
Φ(x)=P(Z≤x)=∫−∞xϕ(t)dt=21(1+erf(2x)).
