A snowflake is an ice crystal or an aggregate of ice crystals grown in atmospheric conditions. Its morphology depends on vapour supersaturation, transport, temperature and crystal anisotropy. Not every snowflake is dendritic.
An exposed tip receives vapour more efficiently than a sheltered surface and can amplify its lead, producing crystal dendrites and side branches. The planar thermal solidification mechanism is an analogy, not a complete vapour-growth model. The hexagonal ice crystal anisotropy selects six preferred directions; an isotropic linear instability alone does not select six arms.

Ice is the solid form of water, which occurs when water freezes at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) under standard atmospheric conditions. It has a crystalline structure, which makes it less dense than liquid water, allowing ice to float. Ice can be found in various forms in nature, such as: 1. **Glaciers and Ice Caps**: Large masses of ice found in polar regions and high mountains.

Ice is the name of one of the solid phases of water.
In informal contexts, it usually refers to the phase of ice observed in atmospheric pressure, Ice Ih.
