Batchelor's entrainment hypothesis takes the mean normal entrainment velocity at a turbulent plume edge to be a constant fraction of a characteristic axial velocity.

A heated wall plume is a one-sided plume adjacent to a wall. A uniform wall heat flux makes its buoyancy flux grow linearly with height.
