Post-perovskite is a high-pressure phase of magnesium silicate (MgSiO3) that is believed to exist in the Earth's lower mantle, approximately 660 to 2,900 kilometers (about 410 to 1,800 miles) below the Earth's surface. It has a distinct crystal structure that is different from the more common perovskite structure, which is typically stable at shallower mantle depths.
The term "mantle oxidation state" typically refers to the average oxidation state of the elements within the Earth's mantle, which is primarily composed of silicate minerals rich in silicon, oxygen, magnesium, iron, calcium, and other elements.
A diamond anvil cell (DAC) is a scientific device used to generate extremely high pressures and study the properties of materials under those conditions. It consists of two opposing diamonds, which serve as anvils, and a sample placed between them. The diamonds are typically cut into thin plates, and they have exceptional hardness and transparency, making them ideal for high-pressure experiments.
Breyite is a rare mineral that primarily consists of lead, manganese, and oxygen, with the chemical formula often denoted as Pb2Mn3O7. It typically forms in metamorphic rocks and is associated with other minerals that contain manganese and lead. Breyite has been studied for its unique properties and composition, which can provide insights into geological processes and the conditions under which it forms.
A Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is an electronic circuit that synchronizes an output signal's phase and frequency with a reference signal. The PLL range typically refers to the frequency range over which the PLL can lock onto an input signal. This can be affected by several factors, including: 1. **Frequency Bandwidth**: The PLL's ability to track variations in the input frequency.
Nikolay V. Kuznetsov could refer to various individuals, as it is a relatively common name. However, without specific context, it's hard to pinpoint exactly which individual you're referring to. In academic or professional contexts, for example, he might be a researcher, scientist, or a professional in a certain field.
Shields Warren is likely referring to the *Shields Warren Project*, which is a significant waste management initiative in the United States. It focuses on the disposal of radioactive waste, particularly from the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and the handling of contaminated materials. The project is overseen by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and involves the management of waste generated from various operations in the nuclear industry.

Roscoe L. Koontz is a notable figure primarily recognized for his contributions to the fields of management and organizational theory. He is perhaps best known for his work on the concept of management principles and for co-authoring the widely used textbook "Principles of Management," which details fundamental management practices and concepts. His work has had a significant impact on the study and practice of management, particularly in the mid-20th century.
Roberts Rugh is likely a reference to a specific textile pattern or design style that is associated with a type of fabric or rug. In the context of rugs, "Rugh" may be a misspelling or variation of "rug." The term could refer to a particular style of weaving or a specific cultural or historical design.
Miriam Posner Finkel is a scholar and educator known for her work in the fields of digital humanities and media studies. She has contributed to discussions around the intersection of technology and humanities, focusing on how digital tools and methods can be utilized to analyze and interpret cultural artifacts. Her work often emphasizes the importance of critical engagement with technology and the implications of digital practices in society.
Marvin Goldman does not appear to be a widely recognized individual or entity as of my last knowledge update in October 2021. It's possible that he is a private individual or a professional not widely covered in public sources.
Lisa Gordon-Hagerty is an American nuclear scientist and government official known for her work in the field of nuclear science and technology. She served as the administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) from 2017 to 2021. In this role, she oversaw the nation's nuclear security, including the maintenance and modernization of the nuclear stockpile, and was involved in nonproliferation efforts and ensuring the security of nuclear materials.
Lauriston S. Taylor (1903-2007) was an influential American physicist known for his work in radiation measurements and standards. He played a significant role in establishing and promoting standards in radiation dosimetry and exposure. Taylor was notably a prominent figure in the development of the International System of Units (SI) as it pertains to radiation.
Karl Z. Morgan was an influential American health physicist known for his work in radiation safety and public health, particularly in relation to the effects of ionizing radiation. He is often recognized for his advocacy for health protection standards and for serving as a strong proponent of the ethical responsibility of scientists and institutions regarding environmental and public health issues. Morgan played a significant role in the establishment of many safety protocols and standards related to radiation exposure.

Boice has been involved in numerous studies and has published extensively on the topic, helping to shape guidelines and standards regarding radiation exposure, especially in medical and occupational settings.

Pinned article: Introduction to the OurBigBook Project

Welcome to the OurBigBook Project! Our goal is to create the perfect publishing platform for STEM subjects, and get university-level students to write the best free STEM tutorials ever.
Everyone is welcome to create an account and play with the site: ourbigbook.com/go/register. We belive that students themselves can write amazing tutorials, but teachers are welcome too. You can write about anything you want, it doesn't have to be STEM or even educational. Silly test content is very welcome and you won't be penalized in any way. Just keep it legal!
We have two killer features:
  1. topics: topics group articles by different users with the same title, e.g. here is the topic for the "Fundamental Theorem of Calculus" ourbigbook.com/go/topic/fundamental-theorem-of-calculus
Articles of different users are sorted by upvote within each article page. This feature is a bit like:
    • a Wikipedia where each user can have their own version of each article
    • a Q&A website like Stack Overflow, where multiple people can give their views on a given topic, and the best ones are sorted by upvote. Except you don't need to wait for someone to ask first, and any topic goes, no matter how narrow or broad
This feature makes it possible for readers to find better explanations of any topic created by other writers. And it allows writers to create an explanation in a place that readers might actually find it.

  2. local editing: you can store all your personal knowledge base content locally in a plaintext markup format that can be edited locally and published either:
This way you can be sure that even if OurBigBook.com were to go down one day (which we have no plans to do as it is quite cheap to host!), your content will still be perfectly readable as a static site.
