Drag force

A drag force opposes an object's motion relative to a surrounding fluid and transfers momentum between them.

The Stokes number compares a particle's drag stopping time $\tau$ with a characteristic flow time $T$: $\mathrm{St}=\tau /T$. In an orbiting disk, the natural choice is $\mathrm{St}=\tau \Omega$.
