Device Independent File Format (DIFF) is a file format designed to store graphical or audio-visual content in a way that is independent of the specific hardware or software used to create or display the content. The idea behind DIFF is to ensure that the file can be rendered consistently across different devices and platforms, regardless of their individual characteristics or capabilities. ### Key Features 1.
The Deutschsprachige Anwendervereinigung TeX (damt) is a user association for TeX users in German-speaking countries. TeX is a typesetting system that is widely used for producing documents with complex formatting and is particularly popular in academia for typesetting mathematical and scientific papers. The association aims to promote the use of TeX and its related tools, provide support and resources for users, and facilitate communication among TeX users in the German-speaking community.
Cork encoding is a method used in computer science and information theory to efficiently represent and encode data, particularly for purposes like lossless compression. The specific characteristics and implementation details can vary, but generally, the purpose of any encoding scheme, including Cork encoding, is to reduce the amount of space needed to store information while preserving the ability to retrieve the original data without loss.
Concrete Roman is a typeface designed by the typographer and designer Fredrik H. Schmidt, often characterized by its geometric forms and strong typographic presence. It blends classical Roman letterforms with a modern, structural aesthetic, reflecting a certain solidity and clarity that appeals to contemporary design sensibilities. The design of Concrete Roman often incorporates clean lines and a sturdy appearance, making it suitable for various applications, such as branding, signage, and editorial design.

The series is part of Knuth's work on the TeX typesetting system, which he developed for the purpose of producing high-quality typesetting, particularly for mathematical and technical documents.
Computer Modern is a family of typefaces designed by Donald Knuth in the late 1970s. It is primarily known for its use in the TeX typesetting system, which Knuth developed for high-quality typesetting of technical and mathematical documents. The Computer Modern typefaces are characterized by their clean, modern appearance and a wide range of styles, including serif, sans-serif, and monospaced variations.
The Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies is an online repository that provides a comprehensive database of bibliographic references related to computer science. It primarily focuses on academic papers, articles, conference proceedings, theses, and other scholarly works in the field of computer science and its various subfields.
CTAN stands for the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network. It is a large repository of software and documents related to TeX, LaTeX, and related typesetting systems. CTAN hosts a wide array of packages, classes, fonts, and documentation, and it serves as a central point for users to download, share, and contribute to TeX-related resources.
AmigaTeX is a typesetting system based on TeX, specifically designed for use on the Amiga personal computer platform. It provides a way to create high-quality documents, including complex mathematical typesetting, by utilizing the powerful capabilities of TeX. AmigaTeX includes various features and tools that make it suitable for users working with the Amiga operating system, such as an integrated editor and support for graphics and font management.
AMS Euler can refer to several different topics depending on the context, but it often pertains to mathematical or computational concepts, particularly in relation to the American Mathematical Society (AMS) or to methods and algorithms in numerical analysis that are attributed to Leonhard Euler. 1. **AMS (American Mathematical Society)**: This is a major organization that promotes mathematical research, education, and scholarship. The AMS publishes journals and provides resources for mathematicians.
AMS-LaTeX is a set of macros and packages for the LaTeX typesetting system, specifically developed by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) for typesetting mathematical documents. It is commonly used by mathematicians and scientists because it provides a variety of features and enhancements that improve the quality and functionality of mathematical writing.
TeX software for macOS refers to various distributions and tools that allow users to create and typeset documents using the TeX typesetting system, which is particularly popular for producing scientific and mathematical documents due to its powerful handling of formulas and bibliographies. Here are some of the main TeX software options available for macOS: 1. **MacTeX**: This is the most popular TeX distribution for macOS.
TeX is a typesetting system that is widely used for producing high-quality documents, particularly those that include mathematical formulas, scientific papers, and technical documents. It is particularly favored in academia and research for its powerful handling of complex layouts and typographic features. For Windows, there are several distributions and software packages that make it easy to use TeX: 1. **MiKTeX**: This is one of the most popular TeX distributions for Windows.
TeX editors are specialized software applications designed for creating and editing documents written in the TeX typesetting system, which includes LaTeX (a popular macro package for TeX). These editors provide features that facilitate the writing, formatting, and compiling of documents, particularly those that include complex mathematical formulas, references, and bibliographies.
Linux TeX software refers to a collection of typesetting programs and tools that are typically used on Linux operating systems for creating documents with high-quality typography, particularly in academic and scientific contexts. The most well-known component of the TeX software suite is **TeX** itself, which was created by Donald Knuth in the late 1970s and early 1980s. TeX allows users to create complex documents that include features like mathematical formulas, bibliographies, and cross-references.
FreeTeX is a software package designed for typesetting documents using the TeX typesetting system. It is a distribution of TeX that typically includes a variety of tools, packages, and fonts to facilitate the creation of professional-quality documents, particularly for texts that include mathematical typesetting, scientific papers, and academic publications.

Pinned article: Introduction to the OurBigBook Project

Welcome to the OurBigBook Project! Our goal is to create the perfect publishing platform for STEM subjects, and get university-level students to write the best free STEM tutorials ever.
Everyone is welcome to create an account and play with the site: ourbigbook.com/go/register. We belive that students themselves can write amazing tutorials, but teachers are welcome too. You can write about anything you want, it doesn't have to be STEM or even educational. Silly test content is very welcome and you won't be penalized in any way. Just keep it legal!
We have two killer features:
  1. topics: topics group articles by different users with the same title, e.g. here is the topic for the "Fundamental Theorem of Calculus" ourbigbook.com/go/topic/fundamental-theorem-of-calculus
Articles of different users are sorted by upvote within each article page. This feature is a bit like:
    • a Wikipedia where each user can have their own version of each article
    • a Q&A website like Stack Overflow, where multiple people can give their views on a given topic, and the best ones are sorted by upvote. Except you don't need to wait for someone to ask first, and any topic goes, no matter how narrow or broad
This feature makes it possible for readers to find better explanations of any topic created by other writers. And it allows writers to create an explanation in a place that readers might actually find it.

. View it live at: ourbigbook.com/go/topic/derivative
  2. local editing: you can store all your personal knowledge base content locally in a plaintext markup format that can be edited locally and published either:
This way you can be sure that even if OurBigBook.com were to go down one day (which we have no plans to do as it is quite cheap to host!), your content will still be perfectly readable as a static site.
Figure 5. . You can also edit articles on the Web editor without installing anything locally.
