Bose statistics is the symmetric exchange statistics of identical bosons. Commuting creation operators build the symmetric bosonic Fock space; a normalized one-particle mode has occupation states for every nonnegative integer . At thermal equilibrium these statistics lead to the Bose-Einstein distribution. Exchange symmetry itself does not require thermal equilibrium.

Bose-Einstein statistics is a set of statistical rules that describe the behavior of bosons, which are particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics. Bosons are a category of elementary particles that have integer spin (0, 1, 2, etc.) and include particles such as photons, gluons, and the Higgs boson.
